We Finally Made It!

Hello Family, sorry that this update is so delayed in getting to you. I hope to be more consistent with getting these updates out more frequently.

Well, we arrived in Mexico City on March 4th, that means we have completed three months here.  The first month and a half was quite difficult because I got Covid at the start of our first full week here, which meant that we were confined to the house for nearly a month and a half. Everyone in our home, except Karen, had it all at this time; providentially Karen had it back in January, making her able to take care of us.  I thank God that I had a very mild case, two nights of a mild fever and one day of feeling tired. That's it!

When we arrived here and for the first month and a half  Mexico City was on "red light" restrictions for Covid 19.  This meant that the church was closed for in-person meetings and we were having to do everything virtually.  Though we are grateful for the technology to be able to continue having a form of church it just isn't the biblical model of having church. We have been meeting in person now for about six weeks at a limited capacity.  Today it was announced that we will be going to a green light, which means we can resume small groups in person, children's ministry in person, and increase our Sunday gatherings capacity.  This is great news!

Those of you who know Karen, know that a little, or a lot, of Covid wasn't going to hold her back from ministering to kids. Karen hasn't stopped producing her FB videos to minister to the kids back in California and during the red light restrictions she increased here video frequency and was using them to minister to some of the kids here too.

Here is a picture of her ministering to some kids that were working on the street, selling some candy, while we were shooting one of her FB videos. It's rare that any kids escape her watchful eye on any given day.

In front of where we live there is a little retail strip and there is a family that works the parking lot selling baskets that they make.  They caught Karen's eye and she went and introduced herself.  They are a Mayan family that speaks a dialect and some Spanish.  Their kids are 11, 7, 4 and 3 years old.  The 11 year old speaks Spanish and detected that Karen also speaks English and asked her if she would teach her.  For the past six weeks Karen has been going with these kids weekly, teaching them a bible story and giving the older girl lessons in English.

This is one of our first Sundays back with in-person services.
Each chair having to be three feet apart, but we were excited
to gather in-person and worship our Jesus.

Here the worship team is getting ready for Easter Sunday.

I had the honor and privilege of preaching God's
Word without apology for the past three weeks.

We, as Harvest Mexico, have many plans coming up with the heavy restrictions now being lifted.  There is a children's event planed for June 12th, a one day mini VBS like program that will be the kickoff to starting Harvest Kids, post Covid.  The month of July is our month of prayer; all Sunday morning services will be about prayer, small groups will gather each week to go to the streets to do a prayer walk in the neighborhoods they meet in and we also hope to start First Tuesdays; a night of prayer and worship on the first Tuesday of every month.

Not only has God brought big changes to Karen and mine's life but our kids too.  Today Josh is moving to Denver, CO where he has taken a job with a friend that I met in the Brave Global residency program.  We are so excited for him and for what God has in store for him as he ventures into a new state, new church, new friends, and a new profession. Raquel graduated this month from Grand Canyon University. This week she is traveling to San Antonio, TX to scope it out to see if this is somewhere God would lead her to begin life after University. Later in the month and into the next she will be traveling to two or three other states to do the same thing.

How can you pray for us?  Pray that Karen will be able to get her Mexican voter's card (social security card equivalent) soon; that David can get started on his legal paperwork too; wisdom as we entertain the thought of buying a car; pray for Harvest as we begin implementing in-person gatherings with Kids, small groups, and increase capacity on Sunday mornings and pray for unity in the church and leadership.

May I end this letter saying how so very grateful and blessed we are by all of you who pray for us and support us financially. We have had some trying days here and your prayers and the undeniable confirmations that God has given us along the way have sustained us and helped us to persevere in varying circumstances.  Thank you!

Would you do us a favor. We want to be praying for each of you too. Would you send us a text at  623.764.0507 or an email at davereid71@gmail.com and let us know how we can be praying for you.  We would consider it all joy and a privilege to pray for you.

In His Service,

David & Karen

Our Time Training in Denver

It's hard to believe but our three months in Denver are coming to a close this week.  Being at the Brave Global Training Center for church planters has been an incredible experience.  God has used it to clarify his call upon our lives, to strengthen us in leadership, to grow our burden for the local church and to cultivate friendships with God's people for all of eternity.

We are both excited and sad to go. We are excited because we are certain of His call to Mexico City and we feel an urgency to get our boots on the ground but we are sad to leave the people of Brave Church and Brave Global that we have grown to love and enjoy sweet fellowship with. We will especially miss our Monday night small group community.

We have enjoyed the beauty of Colorado so much.
We did as much sight seeing as we could while we were here, enjoying places like:

the picturesque Garden of the Gods,

the mountain town of Manitou Springs,

the quaint town of Frisco,

the beautiful ski resort town of Breckenridge,

Colorado Springs

and the Christmas lights and festivities of the
impressive Gaylord Rockies Resort in Aurora.

All in the company of new found friends,

reunited friends

and family.

Dios Nos Esta Llamando A Mexico

God Is Calling Us To Mexico City

The Call

Twenty-four years ago two became one and a dream was conceived; a dream to be vessels of God’s love and grace in a foreign land for His kingdom. Twenty-four years of tilling our hearts and cultivating us in ministry and now in His providence the dream has become a reality and He is sending us into the harvest.  A land of 22 million souls racing toward eternity.

The Vision

We are going to Mexico City to serve full-time in the equipping and coaching of church planters who desire to plant gospel saturated, Christ exalting, disciple making churches who then plant churches. We will be doing this through the training center of Harvest Mexico.

God At Work

God is already at work in Mexico City. In 2016 God planted Harvest Mexico, now known as  Harvest CDMX, in the southern part of the city. In 2019 a building was gifted to Harvest CDMX and Harvest Norte was planted in the northern part of the city. Today a third plant is in the core group stage in Leon, Guanajuato set to launch in March 2021.

First Steps

Today we are in the residency program of Brave Global located in Denver, Colorado. Here we are learning how to equip and coach church planting couples while we too are being equipped and coached for the possibilities of planting a church one day.
